It was only ever designed to be a non-competitive monopoly to continue along the lines of UK companies of that time (the 20's), providing their workforce with tokens they could only spend in their shops..........oh, and to provide a nice little earner for retired 2 stars.
The chogie shops in NI and Honkers provided a much better value of service than the NAAFI ever did.
