[QUOTE="Pteranadon, post: 10455529, member: 10313"] The OP reminds me of the explanations in English in the Museo Storico Piane del Orme about the war in the middle east 1940. In summary. The Italians invade Greece, but the Greeks were unexpectedly brave. The Italians invaded Egypt, but the British were unexpectedly strong... The Museo is, incidentally, absolutely brilliant. It is my recommended musuem for orientation to Anzio or Cassino battlefield studies. Vast sheds are dedicated to phases of WW2 all old fashioned and full of exhibits with pre-computer visuals. The dioramas are on a vast scale. The Italian army on mobilisation is a battery of guns with limber vehicles on parade. The gallery is a room with four guns four tractors and detachments on a parade square. The invasion of Sicily has an entire troop of M8 armoured cars. One highlight is Monte Cassino - throw a switch and B17 bombers demolish the abbey. No irony. Big sheds with all manner of A & B Vehicles, While the Imperial War Museum removes objects these chaps add them. These chaps took holocaust memorial money and inserted a railway station and a train with half a dozen cattle trucks. The web site does scant justice.
