MP resigns post over Middle East

#1
A Labour MP has resigned his position as a Parliamentary Private Secretary to the defence team in protest at government policy on the Middle East.
Jim Sheridan is MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North.

Good man. Though resigning as an MP might have been more newsworthy.

Could be a good move - he's a Scottish MP with his ear to the ground. Gordon Brown may remember you when he's PM. Hasn't Mr Brown been strangely quiet over the Middle East? Perhaps he'll bide his time, make capital from Bush and his poodle's upcoming cock-ups, then ride in on a popular wave of anti-American/Israeli feeling.

Good to see a politician nail his colours to the mast and not budge. He's certainly got more balls than that tw5t Bliar.

It is a calculated attack on Bliar from within his own ranks; Bliar will not be inviting anyone to a Prime Minister's bonfire at Chequers in November.

Jim Sheridan MP is my MP folks and he is bloody good at his job.Everything I have written to him about, he has always answered. He takes a great interest in his constituents and their problems and I'm sure if he was getting a lot of flak from people writing to him about the Middle East then he will do something about it.

Not too sure on the Brown thing.....Everyone of the Bliar's trips for us have been in the nature of Good PR for Bliar. Yet the Armed Forces have had no real, meaningful, increase in spending. To my mind the Brown has scored purely political points by keeping us short of cash, just to annoy the Bliar. Every single increase has been petty and carefully stage-managed to make the Brown look good.
