  1. Just heard on R4, apparently a mother has successfully sued the Army over being disciplined for not turning up on parade as she had to look after her child.

    Sounds like a bit of PC spin to me, the reply from the Army was something along the lines of ‘the Army is a war fighting machine and should not be restricted by parental responsibilities.’

    The full story is probably on the Beeb somewhere.
