Single rep? I weigh 70 kg and can bench 80kg about 3 or 4 times, wich i think is not bad. I've had 100kg of the stand lowered it to my chest, then it just stayed there and crushed me ha ha(always have someone with you).

90kg isnt bad. I dont know my 1rep max but I have done 80kg for 3 reps before... I stopped training heavy when I realised my cardio and endurance was crap.. kind of pointless being able to lift big weights if you're not a decent runner.. just my opnion of course.

I go through stages of being able to bench well over 120 and other times I'm too fcuked to get anywhere near it.

Stevie, what weight are you? If you're 95 kilos and benching 90, then that's crap-on the other hand, if you're 70 kilos and benching 90, then that's pretty good.

You'll be pleased to know that the world record is something like 450 odd kilos but the guy concerned is a fcuking animal and weighs something like 25 stone plus...

I've no idea what my one rep max is, I usually train with 3 sets of 10 reps at 40kg. Nothing remarkable, but I am a crab after all!

Well I benched 95kg back on Telic 3 when I hammered the gym most evenings and I was proud of myself! these days I can hardly get out of bed without breaking sweat!!

My mate 'bench presses' a reliant robin on axle stands.

He did look like Conan the barbarian though, weighed 17st and was 5ft 9.

Found this LINK. Still 20KG off the pace! To be fair to my mate, he was fcuked afterwards and swore he'd never try it again!

What is the point of doing a single press? Sounds like a good way to get a muscle injury.
I train for arm strength and endurance for mountaineering and other sports that I do, 3 sets of 15 reps. When I started this program 2 years ago (twice a week'ish) I could only manage 40kg, now I am on 60kg. My target is 72kg to equal my bodyweight....
Everytime I try to do too much I end up getting slight injuries, which always put you back a month or 2...

Doing a one rep max in a training session has shown greater muscle gains in terms of strength.
15 reps will give you greater endurance but with limited gains in terms of strength.
When you mention injuries that may be because of poor form, are you sure it's not the micro muscle fibre tears (or whatever they are called)?

Yeah, and 24 stone of that is steriods!

The huge guys who can lift insane amounts of weight are on the gear. And they have zero endurance. As well as serious health problems.

My PB was 140k on the flat bench. But at that time, I'd fcuked my ankle so I could'nt run. I just lived in the gym and I'm an easy-gainer anyway.

Now my training is much more balanced - running, weight training, Martial Arts - so the weights I can lift have gone down. But I'm faster and have more endurance.

It's always a trade off. If you want to excel at anything, you have to devote all your time and energy to it.
