More Power

What would our UK pistol jocks like to see?....

In the early 70's I saw a couple of RM officers on Tipner range experimenting with a SLR cut down to a sort of pistol using light load 7.62 ammo. I don't think it came to anything except sore wrists.

The U.S. Army is moving forward to replace the Cold War-era M9 9mm pistol with a more powerful handgun that also meets the needs of the other services.

As the lead agent for small arms, the Army will hold an industry day July 29 to talk to gun makers about the joint, Modular Handgun System or MHS.
Serious question here, whatever for? most squaddies are shyte with them and never use them enough to reach a level of competence,
If ammunition availability isn't an issue then 40 S&W is the answer. That or 9mm Parabellum. ;)
Problem as the fbi found out you can issue a 10mm pistol but a lot of people cant handle it.
As most people never fire one in anger its a bit of a niche.
You could buy a general issue pistol and a soecial forces pistol but then you end up with a mark23 brilliant pistol just the size and weight of a house needing special ammo that even socom couldnt magic up.
