More Dambusters

Background info-
On the night of May 16th one of the most daring and remarkable bombing missions of World War 2 happened over the Rhur valley in Germany. Specially equipped Avro Lancaster bombers were fitted with a special type skip bomb known as Upkeeps. This type of bomb was specifically designed to “skip” over the water and lodge itself at the base of dams. The explosion and shockwave would the breach the dam. The 617 Squadron targeted a number of German dams and did manage to breach the Mohne dam on the Rhur river. The raid (code named Operation Chastise) would be one of the most famous of the war and many of the crewmen of the 617 paid for this fame with their lives. Others were taken as prisoners of war.

Its been signed by Johnny Johnson

I believe he was a bombardier of one of the second wave of raiders, George “Johnny” Johnson. For his part in the raid Johnson earned the Distinguished Flying Medal.

This particular photo belonged originally to a collector who's own father won the VC...
Unless Cheggars is bidding it appears Flash is winning this with 10 hours to push.
