...this came to my attention today and brought a smile to my face on multiple counts. It concerns a phenomena that has been occuring in London which has a viral and anarchist element to it, so unsuprisingly I find the whole thing interesting and/or amusing. I'm not sure that any of you saw the last Big Brother, but there was a particularly amusing part where they allocated each contestant an mp3player, an eye mask, and then had them dance in a 'they shoot horse, don't they?' type affair'. Highly amusing as none of the dancers could hear the music nor see each other. In a somewhat similar situation a new dance craze has hit London. I first heard about it some months ago when emails and text messages were flying around concerning a meet at Liverpool Street station. In an obtuse and as I said viral marketing type occurence emails and text message began arriving informing of an RV at the station where people where given a meet time, instructed to bring their mp3 players and perform the act (for an hour or so) of mobile dancing on the concourse of the station. Something I missed but would have loved to watch. So it appears that once more the phenomena of mobile dancing is set to occur, this time outside Vauxhall station. It made me smile as I pass through that station quite often rushing to work, and it has annoying classical music playing in the lobby of the tube. Now I can appreciate classical music the melodies, the counterpoint etc., however I don't like it, its far too structured for me. The event that is occuring tonight is a Ballroom/Waltz type affair, which of course fits in with the dreadful drones of the underground station somewhat reminiscent of a 1970's film set in the 21st century. I'm far more of Jazz person and I think that in thought and MO there is a distinct difference in cognitive abilities between a player/listener of classical music and that of Jazz. So in light of this the irony of the fact that this performace will take place beneath the windows of Vauxhall Cross I thought I'd share. Oh and before anyone comments on my obvious insanity, I'd just like to add it is bespoke lunancy, not off the rail; it took me rather a long time to procure.
