Hi fella's, im a newly qualified TA infanteer, and i whilst putting a new helmet cover on and securing it on with sniper tape(a good tip i suggest to you all that can be easily cam'd over with cam cream), i accidentally pulled out the black padding at the front, and i cant for the life of me get the thing back in!

any tips out there?

1. Yes, don't fcuk about with your kit (at least until you know what you're doing).

2. Don't recommend that others do the same!

1. You've posted this dullness twice.
2. Youre a crow and are issuing advice as well as at the same time admiting you've broken your helmet.
3. You're a bloke but sign off with 'manny x'.

I conclude you're as daft as a bag of frogs.

A. my intentions were not to post it twice
B. 'Manny x' was an intuitive habit
C. i apologise for telling others to do the same
D. I know what i am doing, ive been in a year now and have learnt from many mistakes, however i do admit that i contradicted myself TLF
E. What is your justification for calling me a crow
F. So much for a website where you are welcome to friendly advice

thanks

P.S i fixed the helmet

Good. You fixed it. So learn your lesson and don't fcuk with it; the cover fits nicely without tape or bits of NBC boot, and here's another tip; if you have to use so much force to fit it that the helmet padding comes out, the cover's too small and you should return it for a bigger one.

This is mostly a friendly website, but when a "newly-qualified" Territorial posts (twice) about having broken something whilst performing an unnecessary and much-derided mod, what do you expect? You're in the Army now, son; grow a thick skin (especially on your head; you'll need it now your helmet's knackered ;) )

I accept your criticism

however, as i said i did not mean to post the topic twice and im on deleting the second post

nevertheless, i sha'nt fcuk about with kit unless its mine for keepsies, yet i still pick up little habits from more senior and experienced folk than myself, the tape idea being one of them

just a point

You must be the only soldier left in the TA with a Mk5 Steel Pisspot.

Not a happy person having replyed on your other post, only for you to change the fecking subject.

A. But you still did.
B. It's gay for a bloke to put a 'kiss' at the end of his name.
C. Good. Apology accepted.
D. Clearly not as you had to post on a website to get a grown ups help.
E. 23 years.
F. You've been in a year you say? You'll know it's not the Sally Army then.

**** it, this has been plain stupidity on my part

my helmet on the inside says mark 5 yet it is the olive green kevlar one ergo the 'steel tin' references must be accurate and my perceptions wrong

and i cant argue with the experience against me here

therefore, i shall apologise for all mad assumptions and related foolish moments of mine, and hope you find it in your rational capacity to give me assistance in future

Well can't fault you for coming back and owning up. Welcome and the moral is if it's not broken - don't break it.

Half our squadron was issued with helmet covers too small for the helmets! Cue acres of sniper tape around the rims. And they've had IR patches sewn on so they won't let us exchange them.

Potential officer, with courses at warminster larkhill and colchester all on their way

thats it with us too Forks, we have IR Flashes which means A. storeman is refusing to let us exchange them, and B. because he managed to fit a small cover onto a medium helmet we should all be able to

either way, i aint gunna truly **** about with issue kit until im certain what im doing

cheers for the tips and warnings though guys

that piccy is only of a Mk6 the Alpha is black and has a different support system inside it! and IIRC neither are Kevlar, more ballistic nylon, though I think the Alpha has Kevlar involved.
