Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

This weapon is presently deployed with special operations units in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The Striker weighs in at 90 pounds vs 150 pounds for the MK19 [with iron sights].
It operates much like the M2 .50 cal MG. It fires from a closed bolt which improves accuracy.
It has day/night integrated fire control [AN/PWG-1 day/video sight]. It has a laser range finder and
a ballistic computer. Another advantage is that there is almost zero chance of a cookoff. rate of fire 225 - 300 rounds per minute.
  2. and it will be a cold day in hell before we get one
  3. Looks like good gear. You're right though. We'll be lucky if we get anything like that for a while.
  4. In my humble but absolutely correct opinion, this is precisely the sort of new-fangled technology which is destroying the very spirit of the British Army we know and love.

How can Johhny Foreigner respect the Redcoat if we Soldiers of the Queen no longer play fair? He may stab you in the back as soon as look at you, but he's a doughty fighter in a corner. I say give him a run before the hounds bring him to earth

It's just not cricket otherwise, you hear? Bring back the Baker Rifle and the Mills Bomb!!

Yours in a scarlet and gold dreamland...... (there's a deathless hush in the close tonight....the Colonel's dead and the Gatling's jammed...)
