Missing Chile troops feared dead

  1. Very sad news. Deaths caused by the incompetence of those 'up the chain' by the sound of it - tragic.
     
  2. You can never predict the wheather, but why do they not have the gear to help these situations? It is a shame, shows there is risk though and everyone should be careful even when training.

  3. I agree, freak weather can and does occur; however the phrase:
    implies that although the blizzard was a freak of nature, the general conditions weren't a surprise, and therefore given the stated inexperience of the troops, perhaps the exercise should have been postponed. I accept that hindsight is always 20:20 vision, but still...
