We tried that on qrf coy (3+1) in the Falklands in 1985, we had a mortar section (half a platoon really) to form a fire base with 81mm and 2 sections of Milan for bunker busting etc with the platoons but they would often be used in a direct FSG with the coy's 4 SF guns and the 3 x 2" mortars from the rifle platoons under the csm so effectively the mortars fired from the chopper line and we had our other fsg for supporting the assault. We also had a NGFS team/detachment attached to us from 148 battery as was. A lot of firepower for a rifle company.
Any thing you like. The Infantryman used to run articles from the Senior Div DSM setting out all the options for task orging a rifle coy and rifle pl with diff groupings of 2”/51, GPMG, LSW (think SSW) fire teams, assault and gun groups etc.
