Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. SkillForce currently have places available on the Military to Mentors programmes commencing 14th and 21st January 2013. If you are a service leaver (or going through resettlement), and would be interested in working with young people, then we would like to hear from them ASAP. More details about the programme and how to apply can be found at Military to Mentors | Military to Mentors | SkillForce

Last year, 94 ex-service personnel completed the programme and, within three months of the programme, over half were employed working with young people - many with SkillForce and our partners but also directly employed in schools and colleges. We are committed to supporting people into employment and send M2M students weekly updates of job opportunities within SkillForce and the wider education sector. This year, 83% of instructors and mentors recruited by SkillForce in England were graduates of M2M.

All training is paid for by the Department for Education, and there is no need for applicants to use Learning Credits. In addition, those who have now left the military are eligible to apply for a Royal British Legion Bursary to cover travel and subsistence whilst on the programme.

This is a great scheme and some of our wounded, injured and sick soldiers have benefited greatly from it.
  3. Can you do it if you haven't entered the resettlement process yet, but will do in a few months?
