Military Modelling

Pics would be needed for sure, there's bound to be an interest, and she'd get a genuine valuation here rather than some other site or greedy dealer. Point her to this thread, if needed we can even create a thread just for them.

Many thanks, Helm.

She is aware that people will need pics, obvs, but I was wondering if there were many of his pics posted already? I'm afraid I wouldn't know where to start as there's at least a couple of long threads on military modelling.

I'll let her know, though, and point her here.

There are pics but be easier to keep them in one thread I'm thinking

His wife has now received all his models sent home from Hong Kong. (Or rather she received them a while ago, but has only now felt able to unpack them).

She has asked me if anyone would have any interest in them, and what they are worth.

I'm afraid I'm too lazy to look back through the modelling threads, as it was not something I ever looked at, so please if anyone has any suggestions do let me know and I will pass on to her.

I might also suggest she sets up her own account so she can correspond directly, and post pics if she wishes.

Thanks in advance.
David used to be very active in the 1/6th modelling community. I'm not sure if his personal facebook page is up still or if his mrs had it closed down but lots of his crowd were on there. I'd have said the best bet would be to advertise them in the specialist groups thats are into that stuff.

Let me know if you want me to go digging for you

do you want a bit of advice? I've done quite a lot of casting as I'm a sad b@stard
thanks Si and Helm for your advice, I'm finding moulding a fascinating off- shoot of the hobby. Here is a view of the latex mould I mentioned earlier, silicone rubber is a better material for making the mould as it dries off and hardens quicker

It is.

if you look at my last post, once you've got half of it cast, take the lego apart and take the plasticine off, then rebuild the lego around the cast. Make sure you dont disturb the figure or the plastic rod that embedded in the silicone. Once you'd done that, coat the figure and silicone in liquid that stops the silicone sticking and fill the lego mould with silicone again> . When its dry you will have two perfect halves of a silicone mould.

The 8mm deep holes will be male on one half and female on the other so when you put the two halves together, they should lock using multiple plugs and the vertical rod should come out and the hole it leaves is where you pour your resin to make the cast. Dont forget to take the original figure out obvioulsy......

Hi Si,
I am about to get started with my AFV Club AEC Matador 1/35 I've had in the stash for a while. Having just read through your excellent thread on Britmodeller, from links I saved last year, I thought it would be an idea to share my build on here when I get started.
Did you manage to finish it off?

AFV Matador in 1/35th

FYI, I had links saved to a similar (if not your) build on militarymodelling.com who have now wrapped up and deleted all their content, the cheapskate scabs!

You might edit your post to delete his name ;)

Nope!! Do I ever finish anything?

Get your build up - there is some good after market come through. Funnily enough I was just looking at it the other day.

Glad to see you back by the way

I suspect Si's persec was blown a long time ago.......quite possibly in a Galaxy far, far away.....one where wokkas get built :)
I have to finish that bloody helicopter.

The mrs broke the front rotas this morning. She was shitting herself.

your Wokka faces more prangs than one that served in Afghan. Are you going glass case one day for it?
I don’t actually know what I’m going to do with it. There is a Pinz and and L118 to go underneath it at some point.

One of the lads on mil mod was after it for his desk, and if I’d don’t a mert, it could have gone to Headley, so fcuk know. It’s 3 foot in length tip to tip so a bit of a monster
