some scholarly masterpieces amongst the articles..... a few I skimmed through are very much of the Stephen Ambrose ilk.

Never had a problem with Ambrose myself, I liked the job he did on the Ox & Bucks at Pegasus Bridge. A neigbour I had a few years ago who had parachuted into Normandy back in '44 read it as well and said he thought it was good, and as he was there (with 13 Para I seem to recall, but doubtless someone will now tell me 13 Para were actually in Burmah or commanded by Caubeen or something), it must have been to a standard. :)
