Mil Pensioners abroad & child benefit

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Can anyone throw some light on this?

2x Mil pensioners (Army/RAF in their 40's) living on the same island in the far-east.

They have Asian wives & 1 child each

They are taxed on their pensions & pay vol NI contributions

Both applied for UK CB stating their current abode & circumstances

Inland Revenue turned 1 down on the grounds of 'non-residency' yet paid the other without a hitch (note: both have UK bank a/c & both gave asian postal addresses).

There is an appeals process but it seems a little unfair, especially as CB is payable to Brits living in the EU, along with non contributing parasites in UK!

(An appeal has resulted in IR 'looking again')
