MERS Coronavirus warning

Sadly, it's true. Drakeford has gone power-mad and if ever there was an argument to reverse devolution, this is it.

70 percent of the cases in Spain are in family or social groups. Everything happens late in Spain, they don't have dinner until 10 in the evening, for example. They then go to the bars until 1 in the morning and then the disco and nightclubs open. It's quite usual to go down a street of clubs and discos at midnight and see them all shuttered up and then, an hour later, booming out until 5 or 6 in the morning.

They brought in a rule that places serving alcohol must close at 1 am but no service or entry allowed after midnight. Like lots of places, this was leading to large groups going out in what they call "bottles" where crowds of youngsters meet in the street or plazas or beaches and carry on drinking. Loads of private parties on roof terraces or basements have been taking place. And I do mean loads. Paper are full of police raids where a 100 or so have been in an apartment drinking away with no distancing and no face masks.

The fact that almost 80% of the new infections are under 65 and 67% under 35, means they then go home in their extended family groups where the infection can be passed to the at risk groups and infections are rocketing up at the moment. Our province exceeded 500 new cases yesterday for the first time ever.

The curfew, which has not been rolled out everywhere, is to try and stop large gathering which tend to happen at night or the early hours of the morning. Those that have imposed it is midnight to 0600 and some regions have limited the size of family or social gatherings to 6.
It is also designed to stop large, private parties where groups of friends get together after the pubs or restaurants close and the social distancing, face masks and smoking regulation tend to go by the board. especially important with Halloween coming up.

The PM made a plea to the people yesterday to limit their mobility, limit their social contacts and keep their distance from others. The curfew, when it gets through the courts in our region, will be until December 9th which is after the start of the Christmas season (December 8th the Immaculate Conception and the first big day in the Christmas calendar, the last day being Jan 6th, Epiphany or 3 Kings when the kids get their presents) which they hope to make as normal as possible.

Governments are like King Canute, trying to stop the tide from coming in.

I wonder at what stage they'll have a re-think?

Absolutely pathetic.
Is this what the country has come to?
Echoes of that idiot copper in Derby, IIRC, who was going to inspect shoppers trolleys to ensure they'd only bought "essential" items.

At the beginning of this, you could go for a walk, but only for an hour, & you couldn't sit on a bench for a break.

This gets more ridiculous as time goes on. Those in power need a massive kick up the arrse.

E2a: But as we're not that way inclined in this country, it's not likely to happen.

Only potatoes and turnips are allowed.

The Welsh socialist government's dream has come true.
I can see a nice little sideline for you given your location.

Yet you can still by alcohol and cigarettes . . .

That's because they know they'd get voted out if they ever deemed them to be non essential

Massive amount of whining on my faceache bubble about the Welsh lockdown.

Gyms closed (not mine; mine's in England), no non-essential shopping, but off licences open.

"Drakeford reckons not buying socks or jumpers defeats the coronavirus".

Watching images in Wales of aisles being cellophaned/ taped off etc as they're deemed non-essential, I have literally never witnessed such f***wittery from local government in all my life. I hope the people of Wales make their feelings known next vote

We'll just ignore them. Sturgeon is right now looking at taped up aisles in Wales and thinking how she can one up the Welsh. Meanwhile Boris, who looks more like Barney from The Simpsons every day to me, will no doubt be along to tell us what the latest graph that isn't a prediction predicts while telling us all that they we are all in it together.

I'm tired of it. I will take precautions like wearing a mask, mainly because it allows me to mouth obscenities at people without them knowing, but I am having a proper Chrimbo.

I think the governments have realised that they can't stop it but are bringing in these measures to try and stop the NHS being overwhelmed. Already, Madrid and Catalonia have said they may have to cancel routine operations.

Our Community president in Valencia has just made a rather impassioned speech on TV. There will be a curfew from midnight to 0600 except for going to work, caring for vulnerable dependants and medical urgencies.
He says that 2 out of every 3 cases start in family or social groups so he has limited groups to 6 if not from the same household and bars and restaurants must close at 2300 with no service or admittance after 2200.

He said most people are following the rules and, because of that, the Valencia Community has the second lowest number of cases (after the Canary Islands) and is doing better than France, the UK and most other countries in Europe. However, he said that over 20,000 fines have been issued to people who are not following the rules and this is the cause of the outbreaks, something that cannot be tolerated. In other words, some idiots spoiling it for the majority.

The health ministers are meeting tomorrow to discuss if this will become nationwide.

Shops are still open but have to close by 2200, no covering up of so-called non-essential goods but shop capacities to be limited to 50%. No histrionics and he seemed a bit taken aback that so many had flouted the rules.

Idiots in every country.
