Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Today [1st August 2012] is the 253rd anniversary of the battle of Minden.

Ranged against the French army of 42,000 infantry + 10,000 cavalry, was the 37th [north Hampshire] Regiment of foot + a few sundry hangers-on from other obscure regiments and armies. [tongue firmly in cheek]. The result, a famous victory for the allies led by the Duke of Brunswick.

Hopefully the descendants of those famous regiments will, like us caulkheads on the Isle of Wight be gathering today/tonight to raise a rose and a glass in honour of the fallen.

    Happy Minden Day!
