Medical standard for promotion

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Can anyone please clear something up? Can a SNCO be promoted if they are MND and qualified to go the next rank up? Surely if they were selected for promotion MCM should then tell them their not eligible for promotion. Does anyone know where it stated MND soldiers can't be promoted?

  2. Anyone who is qualified and selected can be promoted. They must complete the appropriate CLM within 12 months or they will revert. If they can't complete CLM because they are MND they will revert after 12 months.
  3. Depends what A&S D you belong to but as a minimum on SNCO'S CLM Part 1 the SNCO must be able to complete BCCS supervision Trg.

For instance the R Signals carry out an AFT at the start and the RLC a PFA some others simply require a Fitness For Course (FFC) certificate.

CLM Policy Handbook (Army Code 64298) will give you the definitive:

Chap 1, Annex J for the Medical standards for BCCS and Chap 5 for the various A&S D entry standards.

Bottom line, you have to pass within 12 months of selection (with 6 month extensions in various circumstances) otherwise you will revert in rank
