Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Hi, I'm new to the site so forgive me if I've posted this in the wrong place. I applied to join the Army last year but was deferred for 3 years on medical grounds. Does anyone knows the Army's stance on possibly reducing the deferral period? Is there any way round it?

    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks, JP
  2. Jonny,

I suggest you return to your local ACIO with the letter of deferral, and ask.

However, the Army wouldn't have given you a 3 year deferral without good reason, and after consultation with a specialist.

  3. You can go to a civvy specialist, if everything is OK get a letter stating this and get it forwardedto the RSC medics. (Sometimes the RSC medical staff can be over zealous) you can ask for a 203 Special Enlistment authority on medical grounds. The most common cause of deferal is usually people filling in their medical questionaire incorrectly by putting every cough/ cold / ache and pain on there thus making them seem like a leper.
