Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. what does the full medical involve

and how hard is the selection weekend on a scale of 1 - 10

Just wondered because i have recently applied thanks for comments
  2. UKSF (V) Selection?

Considering it's Special Forces, I would guess it's quite hard...

  3. Ord_Sgt

    Ord_Sgt RIP

Medical involves coughing as a guy in a white coat holds your elbows. A 4 at most, you need to turn up and be mates with everyone, go for a gentle walk around the park then all get pissed on cider.
  4. Didn't this thread just get punted to the ARRSE Hole!?

    And at my Medical:

    1. Turned up, filled out a form with basic details
    2. Pissed into a cup (for analysis, not just for kicks)
    3. Hearing test (listen to different high pitched noises, etc)
    4. Eye Test (like you'd get at Specsavers)
    5. Colourblind Test (those funny mosaic shape things)
    6. Chat with the doctor who ticked off a list of questions like "Do you have cancer" and "Do you have all your limbs." and stuff.
    7. Had to do a couple of pushups, presumably to show I am not in fact made of wood
    8. Got the old ball-cupping/cough test
    9. Got all my joints and limbs inspected and pushed about/rotated to make sure they didn't creak, etc
    10. Chatted for a few minutes about how awesome Scotland is (answer: heaps mun)

That's it, really. As long as you are medically fit "on paper," I really don't see how you can fail it.
