Media silence

This is the intent of the hard left socialist ayatollahs that make up the PC brigade in Britain and elsewhere.

1984 was an accurate prediction of what is to come if we are not careful. Just some 30 plus years later than predicted.
There's too many stunned c**ts around these days who think that that book was written as a societal blueprint and not a warning.

[QUOTE="Bottom line? Don't be a dick[/QUOTE]
A slippery slope - who determines if you are being a dick? The state? The Daily Mail? The Express? As soon as you curtail free speech because of the possibility of offending someone, there is no speech remaining at all except to toe the party line. That is totalitarianism (co-incidentally, something that Count Dankula has been fighting against for his entire online presence). The ruling on this case goes to show reducto ad absurdum that hate speech laws are the antithesis of free speech, and therefore undermine our free society.

Free speech is only allowed to a certain degree. The idea we all have free speech is akin to going to visit the unicorns. Free speech is only "Free" outwith the terms of the laws designed to take away some of that free speech, like telling a copper he's a twot'll get you arrested, threatening behaviour too and being racist. It's only "Free" as long as those above allow it.

He seems like a cünt, Nazi or not.
Teaching your dog to chuck kippers is impressive and the guy should get an award for ingenuity.

Somehow I didn't see any custodial sentences being applied here, historical or not, all that was meted out was a little bit of bad press that quickly blew over.
Playing fields and level should apply not SJW logic.

"Former English Defence League leader Tommy Robinson attended court today in support of Meechan. "

That cannot have helped.

Two cnuts don't make it right or something like that.

Although if being a **** was a criminal offence I'd probably be doing life right now with half my mates.
Then again I'd want everyone from Corbyn down jailed as well as I think they are cnuts.

Bottom line, don't be a dick - even the outraged right on Arrse can't save you - same runs for the outraged left, behave like a dick, expect repercussions
I find your use of profanity and male centric stereotypical metaphor, the idea that the phallis is congruent with stupidity, very offensive.
Please go and hand yourself in for a hate crime.

If only the outraged left were actually treated the same way as everyone else.

Everyone in this episode seems to be a bit of a ****. I mean, what kind of a ****....

Owns a pug?
Teaches his dog to Hitler salute and vidoes it?
Gets offended and outraged over a Hitler saluting dog?
Actually makes a decision to arrest someone over a Hitler saluting dog? A ******* DOG
Decides to prosecute for a hate crime when only crimes against comedy have been committed?
Finds someone guilty over the comedic actions of A ******* DOG?

Lots of cnuts involved at every level of this. The Youtuber, the Offenderati, Police Scotland, the Procurator Fiscal and the Judge.

He's had his day in court though - so do the courts keep going until you get the result YOU like? No, much simpler all round - don't be a dick in the first place, and if you chose to be a dick don't be surprised when there's consequences

And as the OP's polint was that 'the media' hadn't covered the issue when they had, what she meant was that 'the media' hadn't covered the story in the way she'd like
That response in itself deserves a day in court, followed by a period of re education.

I'm not only of the rave generation but I'm also somewhere tomthe left of Ghandi with my politics and I still think this shit is killing society.

It all comes from identity politics which is the perfect divide and conquer situation. Every ****** is bleating on about their own niche minority issues and bigger picture politics is slipping away.
Indeed I find it sadly ironic that the push for speech policing seems more popular on the left rather than the right. neither side can be fully trusted, not to use the rules to their advantage to disempower there opponents.

What really worries me is that I can ping when someone has said something that could trigger/offend and I'm almost accepting the position that "you have to be careful what you say"

Unfortunately challenging this situation gets you labelled as Alt-right/racist/transphobic etc etc
This is my concern with the increasing push for self censorship to avoid the condition of 'hurt feelings' and then shut down the debating of bad ideas, and then honestly being able to identify those who hold extreme beliefs that many might disagree with. Nick Griffin on Question Time was a good example of this, while the 5 against 1 gave him a sympathetic look for some, his being allowed to speech did more to undermine the BNP than all the shouty protests outside the BBC, and Peter Hains attempt to have him banned from 'air time' by the BBC Trust.

Dynamically changing labels are particularly dangerous, I was telling my dad he shouldn't call people "coloured" this is after a previous considerable period of time where he didn't want to call anyone black as he thought it was offensive, now black is out and "of colour" is the acceptable label de jour, importantly only if used with the all important "of" otherwise it's still offensive. Now West Indian is out of favour.
That a lack of context is being increasingly used by those who I would class as bad actors, be they activists or commentators, to twist a descriptor into a pejorative tells me that the ever changing bingo card of Politicaly Correct language has been weaponised to curtail both debate and control what may or may not be said or thought.

It also makes it less possible for a person to hold the idea, that the opposing side can have a point or even be right of certain issues or subjects. political or social tribalism cannot be avoided but is balanced by reasoned thought and open speech.

Allowing the concept of 'permitted speech' only to take a foothold, can and is such as the case in Ontario of Bill C-16 leading to government sanctioning compelled speech. Had it not been for some troublesome alternative media attention, the mainstream media, would have let that slip by unnoticed and unquestioned. How many on the left cheered for this as an progressive act, and M103 while non binding is another step towards I believe against free speech and free thought.

An Act to amend the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Criminal Code - Wikipedia
Motion 103 - Wikipedia

Lindsay Shepherd's treatment by University administration and Academics was as a result of a false accusation of a complaint being made, is almost text book example of Stalinist use of denouncement during The Great Terror.

There are massive issues in society but if you can't feed you kids and your husband has a minimum wage job on zero contract hours do you really give a **** if some noisy, mentally ill teenager with purple hair and facial piercings wants to be called they rather than he or she
That the young seem unable to formulate cogent arguments and then put them forward for discussion, let alone be challenged or prepared to listen to opposing views, does not bode well.

I don't have to like bigots or their ideas, good ideas will in the main attract a consensus result, bad ideas tend to be ripped apart by all sides, but that does mean they should not be heard.

I think that the comedy NAZI is so firmly entrenched in British culture, so as to make it almost impossible to expunge. This medium of humour (genocide and global domination) has been performed by the greats of British comedy many many times in the past. I for one will campaign for a "Comedy Moustache" day, to run something like "Red Nose Day", with the proceeds going to make sure humourless cnuts like @Maple end up in a mass grave.

Agreed, but there seems to be an insidious orthodoxy creeping in to society, not helped by the ambiguities present in current hate crime legislation, where phrases like “non crime hate incident” (see Amber Rudd’s speech) are used even when no crime has been committed.
This morning I posted a link on the Scottish politics thread where an MSP appears to believe that the phrase “daft wee lassie” means that someone out there thinks that she’s too young and/or too female, perhaps in an attempt to influence the view that there is a sexist* undertone and therefore silence criticism.
* Other isms are available.

All we need now is someone to see The Producers and report it as a hate crime
