Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I heard that theres a company that will shine your medals and then put a stay shiny coating on them so they look the dogs nads all the time, like what the D of E's do. Any ideas and how much it is? Cheers
  2. Any takers?
  3. use hairspray after you clean them that works and its cheeper..
  4. you could also use a diluted acrylic lacquer (its the sort of thing used to cover shiny brass and copper so it stays bright). If you balls it up it would make your medals look like a lepers bellend though. And dont do it to the Jubilee medal, not sure if the 3 microns of gold covering it would survive contact with solvents!!

Worcester Medals give the medals some laquer and mine havent tarnished.
  6. Two of my four are NATO chocolate drops..reckon it might melt those fcukers! Another is the QGJM. Would they be able to do it to my single "real" medal without dismounting them??
  7. Ventress, you wouldn't happen to have a photo of the finished article would you so i could have a butchers before i send mine off? Cheers
