Some of the specialist units have quite high age limits/

out of interst anyone know which units have the highest age for someone with a specific trade? and the highest for someone without a specfic trade (i.e someone with life skills! office work/housework/coooking etc)

With specific trade/ relevant previous experience: negotiable, but probably capped around 40.

Without specific trade: negotiable , but probably capped at around 35.

    However, your mileage may vary.

heard a story/rumour that some guy went Artists at 38, not sure of his background though.

I'm 36 in May and may still join up (not 21 mind  ) as I have been told it ain't an issue

More depends on how long you've been out. MPGS does take persons up to the age or 55 (I think) but it states on the lit that you need to have been in the regs up-to within 6 months prior to application. Have spoken to a couple of MPGS and they say you can apply as long as you have reg/ta experience.

I looked at joining last year and found that even though I was 43 I could still join but would be restricted to desk job even though I'm fitter than a lot of the local TA. I was offered a chance with the locasl 25lb snipers as a clerk.

You can check out http://www.ta.mod.uk/general/index.html the info should be on this site. Be aware that trade of combat is more likely a route to take.

I know it's not exactly the question being asked, but don't the RAF reserve-y people accept applicants up to age 50 or something silly?

My mistake MSR, MPGS is a regular unit but after a period you should be able to transfer out to another arm including TA.

I've never been interested in perminent guard duty but other ex-services friend have thought about rejoining the green again but age is a bugger and the MPGS was a way in.

Jase31, hope that you are asking purely out of interest, and you are going to go to an assessment weekend later this year, as you said :D

Go on, you know it makes sense!
