'More than a dozen earthquakes struck an area near Yellowstone National Park within 24 hours.

'The US Geological Survey (USGS), who monitor seismic activity across the US, recorded the latest earthquake swarm to hit the area on Friday. The USGS data recorded 20 significant earthquakes with 1.5 magnitudes or higher on that day, amongst dozens more smaller tremors. The largest earthquake was recorded at 3.1 magnitude and struck at a depth of 6 miles, at 11:39am on 29 May.'

Among the facticles in the DM article on this is a Plan, apparently from NASA, to pump water into the rock surrounding the plume, or chamber or whatever, to 'cool' it. If ever a plan had possible unintended consequenses, I feel it is the One.

Well that would put a really thick layer of shit onto the shitfest that is 2020 - mega-deaths in the Northern Hemispshere. The South wouldn't be much better off either.

'An area south of Mount Hood near Portland was hit by a swarm starting at noon Sunday, USGS said.

“An earthquake swarm at Mount Hood is ongoing,” USGS said on Facebook. “The earthquakes are associated with regional faulting and are not a sign of changes in volcanic activity.”

'The quakes did not cause any damage, and they are not a sign of impending volcanic activity, USGS said. Many of the earthquakes were small in size.

'Several earthquakes shook with a maximum magnitude of 2.7 and depths of about 3 miles below sea level, according to USGS.'

However is it not true that certain volcanis areas in the US are overdue a big rumble, Yellowstone in particular? Now that would certainly round off a lousy 2020 with a fireworks start to 2021

Don't tempt fate. If that goes up, it affects all of us. Supervolcano, and all that.

Given that a million years is a blink of an eye in volcanic terms, you're better to hope that it forgot to set the alarm clock and that we've gone extinct or buggered off to the stars.
