Well Heroin has been thin on the ground and poor quality since about November.
Presumably Karzai wasn't getting his share?
Fantastic. Street price of skag goes up by 1p per gramme and another gang of Afghan farmers hate us. Result.
I was just going to say, that should bring the locals right on side.
Are we sure this isn't a re-issue of a Press Release from 2010? Or 2009, or 2008, or 2007, or 2006..............
No idea but something has been affecting supplies throughout most of the UK.
What is the reason the locals are allowed to grow poppies in the first place?
Cos a man with a towel on his head, beard and gun, tell them to. Then a man without a a towel on his head, but still with a gun takes it away.
Can't the nice Dutch people go there and show them how to grow nicer flowers? That would be nice.
If you're suggesting tulips it will all end in tears.
A.) What old snowy said.
B.) If it is dry opium then it comes from farther up the chain and not from the poor farmers, but you all knew that didn't you?
The nice Dutch people were there for years, but have now sadly left. Meanwhile (and there is NO connection) the amount of top-grade cannabis now produced in Afghanistan is astonishing. Whereas Kilos of opium is seized, Tonnes of hash is as well. As with opium, they presumably used to grow a small amount for local use - now they've access to markets, transport, a guaranteed buyer, etc - and they are taking advantage.
Interesting model for legal opium production.
And Old Snowy is right, tonnes of hash grown in the Northern Provinces.
That could well be due to a shortage over here, price has rocketed. We were becoming self sufficient in dope, but I think the raids are having an affect. Which could lead to afgan dope picking up the slack, or going into a price war with the home growers (Chinks generally).
