Mass Shootings in the US

Terribly sorry I confused one festering hemorrhoid (you) with another festering hemorrhoid (Bubbles barker) common mistake

All that wood alcohol you're imbibing is apparently rotting away whatever few brain cells you possessed, you drunken, racist old misogynist.

I thought the BUF logo was a lightning bolt in a circle, not a rune? Something about symbolising action within unity if I remember from a history lesson.

Edit - google agrees. I'm quite pleased I got that right.

Heil the black shorts....

Well they did have half of the SS doppelte Siegrune flash as their logo, so they were getting there.

Was someone having a giraffe?

Thomas Cyril Nobbs.

Documents regarding his military service during the First World War with the 2/4 London Field Ambulance RAMC and with the Royal Field Artillery in France, Salonika, Palestine and Egypt (letters, photographs and sketches/cartoons), his membership of the British Union of Fascists in the 1930s and as a BUF activist in Mitcham (Surrey), and his detention and internment under the provisions of Defence Regulation 18b, also including some material concerning his work in the Boy Scouts movement [NB: there is a more detailed listing of the material in the collection].
The documents on Nobbs in the NA weigh seven pounds. That is a lot of information for a nondescript little fascist who shows up nowhere else in history. I guess somebody had their eye on him.

The electoral history of the British Union Of Fascists shows the massive degree of support they had (although you have to admit that it takes a certain kind of bravery - or crass stupidity - for a Nazi sympathiser to stand for election in 1940 Britain. On the other hand that is potentially 1200 people who could sabotage the war effort):

And some interesting allegiances.

'Major Sir Jocelyn Morton Lucas, 4th Baronet, KBE, MC (27 August 1889 – 2 May 1980) was a British Conservative Party politician. He was elected as the Member of Parliament for Portsmouth South in a by-election in 1939 and held the seat until he retired at the 1966 general election. Prior to his election he had been the Portsmouth District Officer for Sir Oswald Mosley's British Union of Fascists.'

Well to be fair, we did have more Krauts straight from Der Vaterland on our shores during that time. My grandmother grew up speaking German and English on the family farm during that time frame.

Was cherman not considered as a potential second language due to that influx?

Not that I know. Assimilation into the American way of life is expected. While people may speak other languages at home, English is the language of the land. My Grandmother told me that her grandparents were not English speakers, her parents used both English and German. She only used German to communicate with her grandparents and the older folks in her community, and that was it.

I believe Congress considered printing documents in German to help those who were not as fluent in English, just like we do for Spanish Speakers. But the immigrants of old were a different breed from most of the ones we have now.

In the 1920s and 30s there were people who liked the militant nationalism of Fascism or National Socialism but bailed out on it either when Italy allied themselves with Germany in the late 1930s or when Germany became openly hostile as war approached.
