Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. From Sky News

"Police have revealed that a man has been arrested over the car bomb death of policeman Ronan Kerr, shortly after the officer's funeral was held in a small Northern Ireland village.

Strathclyde Police said the suspect was detained in Renton, Dunbartonshire.

Sources have told Sky News that a "significant quantity of arms" have also been recovered from a cache in the east of Co Tyrone.

Officers said the seized haul was described as the "most significant in recent years".
  2. Somebody got bubbled then
  3. Probably the PSNI is trying to leave behind the old habits of protecting sources even to the point of allowing murderers to roam the streets and continue at their work.
  4. Just to update this, it's where I'm from and he was arrested outside a friends house, they have found weapons buried there as well.
  5. Peelers gave a statement saying he was arrested over the arms find and not the murder. 4 Assualt Rifles, Semtex, Detonators and parts for rocket launchers were found.

    ******* media.

  6. Assistant Chief Constable Drew Harris announced details at a press conference:

"This investigation into Ronan's murder will continue in the coming days and weeks with the same determination and professionalism which resulted in last night's discovery."
  7. hopefully its the ****** and they're holding him on the weapons as its something tangable they can show to the courts, lets hope murder charges aren't far away
  8. Police in Northern Ireland investigating the murder of Constable Ronan Kerr have arrested a man in Scotland after a significant arms find.

Mr Kerr, 25, was killed when a car bomb exploded in Omagh on Saturday.

Police have said the arrest is linked to a "very significant arms" find in the Coalisland area of east Tyrone.

The weapons included four rifles, detonators, component parts for rocket launchers and explosives including what may be the plastic explosive Semtex.

Speaking at a press conference at police head quarters in Belfast Assistant Chief Constable Drew Nelson said the man was arrested in West Dunbartonshire and brought back to Northern Ireland.

He said the weapons were found inside stolen cars in a garage at Mountjoy Road in Coalisand.

ACC Nelson said the find was "the most significant in recent years".

Police said the items were being "fast-tracked for forensic examination" and formed one line of inquiry in the Ronan Kerr murder investigation.
  9. Gerry and Martin still on the payroll then!
  10. Get the Pope to excommunicate him... then give him a knife, lock him in a cell and leave him be.

He either goes bonkers with thirst or he tops himself.
  11. give the thing under arrest to HMSU for some target practise
  12. Allegedly there were items removed from his van in the Renton and EOD were called in.
  13. from what I understand this was down to items recovered and the nature of said items to going bang
