Major Mandy Islam MBE - Cancer Warrior Diaries

Arrsers,

For those that knew her, it is with regret that I must announce that Major Mandy Islam MBE, RAMC has passed away.

She commissioned from the ranks as an Int Corps NCO, initially into the RMP before transferring to the RAMC.

In 2015 she was diagnosed with Cancer and set up a blog/Facebook page called "Cancer Warrior Diaries" to allow others to follow her battle with the disease. She also founded the CanDiD (Chronic Conditions and Disability in Defence) network to support those working in defence with long-term illness / disability.

Sadly, she passed away on Saturday 30 November.

For our daughter , the battle is over .

We just want to thank all Mandy’s followers for the support they have shown over the years and sharing this journey with Mandy.

The end must come to us all & last night the “Cancer Warrior “ passed away

As Mandy’s Mum and Dad , we would like to thank you all for your love and support over the last four and a half years .

Whatever journey you are on , may it be a happy one . Do what’s right for you , that is what is important . YOU are important.

Mandy was a Warrior until the end. She died peacefully , thanks to modern science
and pain relief.
We wish you all well and hope that you are all blessed with good health but if you have to face death , speak to your family, tell them what is in your heart , it will make a difference .

Roger and out .

Mandy’s Mum and Dad , sister and family xxc

Sorry for your loss. RIP Mandy.

That is sad news. She was a newly-minted Lt at 160 Pro Coy in Aldershot when I was there in the mid-00's. RIP, ma'am.

Still can't believe mandy is gone. Spoken to her quite a number of times about everything and nothing over the last few years.

She was an amazing women who even when dealing with her own pain, always put others 1st in helping and advising. The world is certainly worse off now she has gone.

Hope to see you again one day Ma'am, until the RE-ORG,

RIP x
