Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. M16A1 Rifle Comic, 1968 | Retronaut

Came across this and thought I'd share it. The nearest thing to this in tone that I encountered was the GEMS magazine. It would be an app thses days though I suppose.
  2. There were similar booklets for many weapons systems in those days.
  3. There were a few cartoons issued with US made stuff here as well. One that I recall was for the claymore mine. I think it was done for Vietnam era conscripts with literacy issues.

The one for the M14...never seen an original copy but I guess they were in colour originally?

PS Magazine (PS-Post Script) is what they're officially called and dates back to WWII with two publications 'Army Motors' & 'Ordnance Sergeant', the latter been printed monthly. The first PS magazine was issued during the Korean War as basically was to get information out into the field asap. The design was to inform but also to entertain hence the comic slant, and no doubt Ms. Connie Rodd would get it. :)
