Louise Ellman: MP quits Labour over anti-Semitism concerns

Louise Ellman is highly respected among her constituents and is, by all accounts, a hard working and honest MP.

I'm not a labour voter but even I can respect her which is more than I can do for the labour leadership.

Labour Party strap line:

'For the many, not the Jew'.

This again?

Really?

Labour isn't antisemitic.

A lot of Labour members are, to one extent or another, critical of Israeli policy.

Some Labour members, doubtless, are actually antisemitic.

This whole labour-antisemitism-is-real is a terrifying and impressive instance of what we've learned to call 'fake news'.

Good to see a Bobby coming out against kneejerk, herd-mentality nonsense.
Suck it up, buttercup, it is 'what it is'.

Anti Semetic bullshit.

You are either in denial or an apologist.
The subject of the thread says it all - even Goebbels couldn't have succeeded in spinning it any other way.

And of course you're a Labour member with decades of party meetings, conferences, drunken nights out with other members, doorknocking, leafleting etc. etc. just like me; and you've seen the SS element in the party i missed.

Or maybe you just lap up the mendacious reporting. Because you're predisposed towards an anti Labour position.

Frank Field is also an excellent MP, respected and even loved by constituents, a really good man, but opposed to the Corbyn junta.

Labour's big problem is internecine warfare.

The Tories are just as bad but usually control it better.

The high profile "I'm an MP and Jezza is Hitler" stories are symptomatic of splits, not antisemitism.

As a Jew I'm predisposed to detecting racism and particularly sensitive to the way "anti-Israel" is used as a cover for reviving antisemitism in mainstream culture.
I have enough friends and acquaintances (including my other half) that do not support Israel, but are not anti semitic, in order for me to discern the difference.
Labour and the unions have quite a history of racism at the institutional level - other parties do too but Labour has been the most hypocritical about it.
Of course, it didn't have to be this way but that's what the party chose. The current agenda and ignorance-driven movement against Jews is only to be expected when Islamist terrorist organizations like Hezbullah and Hamas are what floats the dear leader's boat, and when "political correctness" prevents members from exercising their faculties of enquiry and thought.

An apologist, or useful idiot, or someone more sinister, could think that.

Louise Ellman leaving now "is just a symptom of splits, not antisemitism", is like saying Dachau was just a labour camp, not a concentration camp.

Jewish MP's got hounded out of the party because they were Jewish, and the death threats probably didn't help

Then there was Labour suggesting a final solution to the Jewish problem...

It’s so fake 40 Labour MPs and peers felt the need to escort Ruth Smeeth to the NCC.

While you’re in cathartic mode, you may as well come clean about rïmming bulldogs while being rogered by a Rottweiler.

With a majority of nearly 36.000 but at risk of deselection, allegedly.
Did she go before the momentum to leave got too much.

It appears the news outlets are merely reporting on the MP's sentiments for quitting, It's not like they are reporting she is quitting and then making up the rest, If they were presenting opinion as jumped up conclusions, THAT would be fake news.
