Lost Bomb Comments!!

ROYAL Navy officials admitted tonight they had lost a 500 kilo wartime bomb in the murky waters off the Felixstowe coast - but remain confident it is safe.

Despite 14 dives throughout Wednesday a specialist crew was unable to locate where the bomb had rolled to in strong currents on the seabed, but they believe it is still safely contained within a 200 metre area of its original position.

The team will have another 24 hours to search for the Second World War device - thought to be one of the largest ever washed up on Britain's coast - before bringing in specialist equipment to help them find and safely explode it.

Warrant officer Robin Rickard, who will now oversee the diving team, said: “We are beefing up the operation now because things have gone awry a bit.
