The heart of the site is the forum area, including:
How long does it take? Which crossing is best? Best route?
London to Dover - 1 or 2hrs (depends where you are)
Dover to Calais - 1.5hrs
Calais to Munster - 5 to 6hrs (depends on the time of day). Worst bit of the drive is Calais to Antwerp, from there its usually good.
Go in the dead of night is usually best!
Give this a go
Swansea-Cork ferry & you're in Munster straightaway....
I'll get my coat...
There are no direct ferries UK - Germany anymore so you are stuck either Dover - Calais or Harwich - Holland or possibly Hull - Rotterdam.
Depends on what your criteria are, Dover - Calais is the most driving but Hull - Rotterdam is the most expensive.
As the gimp says go at dead oclock at night and the trip takes about 10 hours via Calais.
My personal favourite was Hull - Hamburg (shut down now) as the driving was roughly the same but you spent 26hours on the ferry getting pished..
Good deals on Harwich Hook crossing at the moment and its a reasonable nights kip plus Dinner and Breakfast thrown in. Do not arrive early as Harwich is a complete toilet.
