It is with great sadness that the Ministry of Defence must confirm the death of a soldier from the Royal Logistic Corps in southern Afghanistan yesterday, Wednesday 10 September 2008.

The soldier was on routine patrol duties near Musa Qaleh in Helmand province when he was killed in a contact explosion. The cause of the explosion is being investigated at this time.

Spokesman for Task Force Helmand, Lieutenant Colonel David Reynolds, said:

"This soldier's death will have a lasting impact on his family and friends as well as those who served alongside him. We will ensure that he is never forgotten."

Further details will be released following a period of grace.

His name has not been released yet, could I ask that for the sake of the family and friends that until it is no mention is made as I know some site regulars will be aware?
