I wonder if Mr Williamson will look at the manning issue - in the run up to SDSR 15, the RN expected a manpower uplift of about 1500 people, which would help us a lot. The RAF expected an uplifted too.
Dopey Dave is gone now, so can we get the manpower we need? No, we really need it ASAP.
It could be argued that two ships is not enough. On the other hand, it's also two ships more than we seem capable of supporting. Is this a compromise?
From an aid to the civilian community perspective, I've no doubt that they'll get a lot of use and will enhance the UK's stature on the world stage but from a military perspective, we'd better pick our fights very carefully - avoiding any foe with an anti-ship capability.
