Hi all,

I've got my main board late January, I'd like to brush up on a little reading in the mean time. Can anyone recommend some decent books, or link me in the right direction if this has been discussed already.

I've got the army/armed forces pocket guide, so I'm looking for something more specific to the role/history etc of army officer.

One book I have read which is very interesting is

The British Officer: Leading the Army from 1660 to the Present: Anthony Clayton: Books

No doubt you will have seen this discussed about on ARRSE but nevertheless I thoroughly enjoyed it:

The Junior Officers' Reading Club: Killing Time and Fighting Wars: Patrick Hennessey: Books

The following is a history of the British Army in general but again a very good read:

The Making Of The British Army: Allan Mallinson: Books

If you look at the 'customers who brought this item also brought' section there are plenty more.
