Lawns

Mowed one of my lawns, I'll save doing the stripey shit for when I can give a fuck.
Not a poor mans garden.jpeg

My council has upped the cost of having the green bin emptied - it's more than doubled since the scheme started. This year, it's a price rise too far and I've decided not to renew. The wind can blow the grass clippings away.
Here we have to pay £30.00 per year per Brown Garden Waste Bin.

Thanks, it’s a work in progress :) By no means a “garden” yet. But we’ve not been moved in a year yet, and we’ve had a shitty time of it since we moved in, for other reasons (wife had a minor stroke, my dad died, my job went south and I changed jobs, wife got acute appendicitis, wife had some “womens’ business” surgery, so we’ve been struggling to get on our feet. It’s Spring now, and we’ve made some good strides. Looking forward to getting it looking better!
I can't wait to see what size fecking shed you stick in it!

I like it when it snows, its the only time my lawn looks as good as everyone else's

Seriously though, at the risk of offending the God Botherers, Snowflakes and the Cat Lovers, (especially the fecking cat lovers), if another cat shits on my lawn, I'm going to have to take some extreme measures.

We are talking 12 volt battery and cable wire measures.

Cats are twats, and so are their owners.

Fire away, I can hack it.

Wishing you and the family a much better year ahead - seems like you’ve had your fair share of knocks there mate.

"Lawn" I have a patch of grass front & back I've cut it twice this year on the highest height on the cheapo flymo rotary lawn mower which has no roller on it.

Pulled some dandelions out with weed puller which leaves holes for new weeds

& chucked a few handfuls of chicken manure pellets on the grass

The fron wants a once over with a rake & the moss killing off. plague permitting I will go to wilko's & buy a box

12 x 24ft. Been working on it the last couple days, as it goes. We started it about 4 1/2 years ago, and it’s lain in a semi-derelict state while we got the house built; just wasn’t a priority once it was sufficiently water proof to keep tools etc out of the weather. I started a thread while back on it:

We’re missing the end gable framing nearest the house, and the exterior sidings. Next weekend and a couple evenings and it will be done. The vertical pipe near the garage door on the end is for the electrics, but inexplicably the builders left it about 8ft short. Grr. Will need to trench it out and extend the pipe.

That seriously needs a clockface on one of the gables under the eaves!

oddly I've been watching powertool "porn" on youtube

the gobshite mong in the video often goes in lowes/ home depot / whatever & there's always an utter fuck ton of hand & powertools in the shops....

Great idea. The gable facing the house will have a square window in it, so it will be the one on the opposite end. I’ve been acquiring stuff for it over the last year or two, the windows were odds ‘n ends for sod all, the door is a $1000 double door with internal blinds that I got for $100 off Craigslist simply because it’s been used And the bottom 4” of the frame is rotten. No big deal to cut that out and replace. The garage door was a scratch & dent one from Lowes for 30% of new price. Bit of handiwork with a rubber mallet and wooden block and the dents are no more. Getting there :)

Top 2-shedding sheddery!

The all important thing will be though...what will you be putting in it? With a shed that size, I'd start buying tins of varnish and brushes and only using half, sticking the brushes to the lids right now. Needs some jars too - to put old washers in that will come in handy one day. Can probably buy authentic SAS old washers on ebay actually.

What goes in the shed? All the yard-work shite that we’ve acquired. 7 years ago, we lived in a suburban house in the northern ‘burbs of Atlanta. Had a push mower, a trowel and a battery trimmer. May have had a shovel.

Now we’ve got 3 chainsaws, oil, gas, chains, sharpening files for them, a concrete mixer, a wheelbarrow that will give a Bedford a run for its money on capacity (small exaggeration), petrol/gas brush cutter x2, a 3.5 ton mini excavator with the tie down chains, hydraulic oil, tools to change the seals, more shovels and rakes than I can count, enough gloves for Edward Scissorhands, long-ass spirit levels, enough 2x4 to build another shed etc etc.

The varnish and old washers are in the workshop, which is in the basement. No room in the shed :)

My council has announced it is suspending the garden waste collections for the rest of the year. Feeling all smug that I didn't pay their exorbitant fee.
