Latest snowflake outrage

That's not what she is commenting on, but on the inner workings of the classical music scene, which often does seem like it only wants a certain type of person, much like a guards officiers mess.

Quite possible. It also means my impecunious neanderthal honkie arse won't be invited either, ergo, hardly racist.

I'm pretty sure someone like Zuma with his stolen millions will be seeing an invitation drop through the door long before I do, despite his being unable to differentiate between Rachmaninoff and Sibelius.

Apparently we musn't have blind auditions we must actively choose the right people even if they can't play...

Ah, Affirmative Action. Nothing to do with skill or qualifications, everything to do with race, but apparently it's not racist, no siree Bob.

Welcome to the Free People's Democratic Socialist Workers' Paradise of Azania, aka South Africa. And the govt still doesn't understand why the place is going down the gurgler.

Music is racist

Reading the article it sounds more like a certain element of the audience's are either racist or at least cautious of those who 'don't fit in'. Which could include white people dressed incorrectly/talking wrong.

She suggests that if black kids were exposed to classical music there may be more black classical musicians.

1. Classic FM is free. My kids have listened to it since birth.
2. Nothing stopping kids watching orchestras on youtube. see point 1.

and 3

Would that be cultural appropriation? we have to be careful when folk with the wrong background start doing things that they don't ordinarily do...

I don't make the rules (I really, really don't) but you know. Rulz.

Good point.
Now, point out to the yoof the 1812, wif big bangy guns, Delibes' Lakme is about bitches and bling.
And there's plenty of swearing.
**** Off and back!

So my white kids have never listen to Drill Rap, but I am sure they would be welcomed with open arms at any event they chose to go to

The closest would be an award ceremony........something like the MOBO Awards :)
To be fair it is a bit of a misunderstanding.

The awards are for 'music of Black origin' ie rap and the like. There is nothing in the rules in regard to the performer's ethnicity.

The MOBOs have faced criticism from non-blacks for the MOBO bit in the mistaken belief it was somesort of positive discrimination, and blacks have actually criticised the awards for giving awards to honkies. Probably some nonsense about cultural appropriation.

Whether Candice's points wrt Classical music venues and MOBO events would stand I don't know. I have never really wished to attend a classical event, nor a MOBO.

I know one thing though. Vanilla Ice not getting a MOBO award must be pure wacism! :)

I say drill and gangsta rap is way more racist. How many black teenagers have been dragged down to the lowest common denominator to fit in with their peers through that shit? How many black people have been stabbed at a classical gig, or even a Blood & Honour gig, compared to the MOBOs, or Notting Hill Carnival? Yes, if I want to get black kids stabbed, I can just organise a drill rap gig. I don't even need to provide any neo-Nazi or Klan thugs to do the stabbings, as there are enough stupid rappers to stab each other.

I have followed this thread for a while but just lately all I can think of is certain types of Steel Bands.

You make a valid point.

But i think the dragging is really done by the gang mentality. rather than just the music.

This lad is an interesting listen, on a long journey.

synopsis.

single parent family, eldest lad goes a little astray. No male role model likely to be a factor. he credits his mum as doing the 'best' she could. There's a younger brother too.

He joins a gang. likely for male role models, and they drag him down to lowest denominator.

He acts the c*nt for a bit, until one night he ends up in a scenario where he punches an innocent bloke with one punch in the head. blood clot, brain surgery and the victim dies.

bloke goes down for a long time.

Mother of victim gives him pause for thought, by telling him to get a 'f*cking grip of himself, for himself'.

the killer has indeed sorted himself out, and works with the mother in turning other miscreants around. Last i heard he was attempting to build on his first class honours degree with a PhD.

The stupid knows no limits...

Lucy Worsley recounted a speech by US President Abraham Lincoln where he expressed his belief that black people should have the right to vote.

She then gave the reaction of John Wilkes Booth with a 'health warning.'

Speaking to camera, Lucy said: "He said... and his words carry a health warning... 'That means n****r citizenship. By God, that's the last speech he will ever make'."

The use of the word without censorship led to many viewers venting their anger on social media.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't History something that has happened? Therefore it should probably be recounted as accurately as possible in order for future generations to understand?

This revisionist or 'cancelling' b*llocks is literally on a par with Holocaust deniers and Nazi's burning books...

"...goose-stepping morons like yourself should try reading books instead of burning them."

It can't be cultural appropriation because only white people can be racist or accused of cultural appropriation

^ yes to the business replicating blind auditions.

google the new US Army Bn CO selection course.

Blind interviews. the panel and the subject is separated by a panel. Admittedly you would know a little about the candidate from their voice.
