Lived in NL for a while on a contract and visited lots of times and I only ever found 2 kaaskops who didn't speak excellent English. Would love to learn Frisian BTW as it shares a common root with English.

Just about every cloggie under the age of 50 living close to the German border speaks those 3 languages
Yes they do, which is something of a difference in general ability level compared to the "University Degrees in Telephone Sanitising" spoken about when the sub-sub-thread started off :)

(I can only manage English, French and Dutch though).

Honestly I'm giving up the will to live...

"Traditional cups of tea are falling out of vogue with young people in the UK, according to PG Tips and Lipton owner Unilever. The consumer goods giant has said that Generation Z and millennial consumers much prefer herbal teas and coffees instead".

"People are more likely to post a photo of their iced latte or Unicorn Frappuccino - a viral drink made popular by Starbucks in the US - and share it with their friends, than a standard cup of tea."

"The builder's brew is quite old school, it's not necessarily a brand that anyone associates with being modern anymore," she says.

Unicorn Fappuccino doesn't sound particularly appetising.

It's only because the young are so thick they can't work out how to add one spoon of tea for the pot.

Try doing that on a phone calculator.

Fear not, there is still hope. All 3 of my current brood know how to both make a pot of proper tea and a single cup.

Until a couple of centuries or so ago, 'unicorn' (as mentioned several times in the Bible) actually meant 'rhinoceros'.
Whatever else you do, don't tell that to Sluggy.

I wonder if this is her way of offering to be this blind fellow's eyes instead.
She's got a point. I'm going to write a letter of apology to all the insects who didn't consent to having their fields dug up to provide me with carrots and cabbage. I shall, of course, offer reparations. Then there's the entire menagerie of creatures who were not even consulted, let alone gave consent, about the building of my house. Whilst I wasn't actually born at the time, and come from a completely different part of the country, I nevertheless inherit the white guilt evinced by the builder's oppressive actions and the local government's failure to do a full animal-rights impact analysis ...

In the film 'Seven Years in Tibet' there was a scene when they were digging footings for a cinema. All the worms had to be relocated and a civil servant on site to help with their compo claims. And as for the Jains sweeping bugs off the road . . .

I am all for animal welfare but some of those idiots take it way too far. PETA for instance believe that keeping any kind of animal as a pet is cruel, their answer to the problem is to euthanise any pet animal they get their hands on.

It's not the animals that need euthanising, it's the crazy feckers like the woman in the article that need fixing.

Jayden has been at Thanet Primary School for the past eight months, after Miss Jarvis removed him from Longhill Primary School, and is entitled to free school meals.

'Entitled'.
I wonder why she removed him from the other place?
Probably because she was encouraged to do so.
