LANDLORDS IN SCOTLAND

If you are letting property in Scotland you MUST be registered with your Local Authority. This costs about £50 per landlord and £11 per property. If you do not register, your tenant can legally withhold all rental payments. Also, under the new ASBO legislation the landlord is responsible for (you'll love this) the behaviour of the tenant, the tenant's family and friends in and around the landlord's property. So, if they are creating merry hell, then you will be taken to court. Check out the Scottish Association of Landlords website for more info.
