Labour bans swords

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Want to buy an old sword, a cavalry sabre perhaps?
An old dress sword, cutlass etc?

Well it's too late. As predicted, Labour have banned the manufacture, sale or import of all swords with a curved blade unless you are in a re-enactment group or theatre.

Theres a big problem with cutlass wielding madmen in the UK these days then or is it another liarbour attempt at government that is ill thought out and crass. Hmmm let me think.....
  3. Labour banned there is no more gun crime
Labour banned knives there is no knife crime
Labour now ban swords so there won't be any sword crime

Now all Labour needs to do to stop crime is ban crime.....w*nkers
  4. Antique trade is well and truly shafted.
  5. Are these excused violence with a weapon then :?
  6. Not a curved blade.

Slash away to your hearts content
  7. Exactly, you can buy that but you can't buy an antique cutlass...
  8. All they need to do now is ban beards, peglegs and west country/yorkshire accents and they will have got those pesky pirates good and proper.

But seriously, these laws only stop people who want to use the gun/sword/whatever in a perfectly legal application (target shooting or as part of a collection), why would some one planning to kill someone else stop and think, "Oh, best not, having a sword of this type is illegal"?
  9. but pastarfarians as part of out religion need to dress up as pirates on fridays
how can we do that without cutlasses
  10. What a crock of sh1t.

A pointless and unnecessary piece of legislation.

We already have more than adequate law to cover this.
  11. Ah but there you miss the point, the laws covering swords etc were passed pre 1997 ie before Year Zero and therefore are not relevent under this new psuedo Marxist government.
  12. Seems to refer to blades made in Japan...

I'm not sure it applies to other types of curved bladed swords...

This is insane...a specific law ammendment for the following:

making it illegal to own/sell a curved sword of over 50cm unless it was made in Japan or you have a costume and your mates get together every second weekend.

It's like ammending the traffic laws to include:

It is illegal to run a red light in a car over 2m long with headlights unless it was made by a small Belgian company or if you are wearing green sunglasses.

    Micro management gone crazy.
