Jack Woods, 85, of the 9th Battalion The Royal Tank Regiment, from Norfolk, who landed on Juno Beach on D-Day, will receive the higher rank of Officer of the Légion d’Honneur from President Sarkozy at a ceremony at Colleville-sur-Mer today.

He landed on Juno Beach with Canadian forces and was immediately engaged in action. He went on to help to capture five bridges over the River Seine.
