Apart from the fact IIRC that the Spams keep an airbase there, why should we give one? In the good old/bad old days of pre-tinternet no-one would have cared (and the USSR would have stamped all over it).

  3. It would be "interesting" seeing the Russians leading an humanitarian peace keeping operation in a territory that harbors a huge US air base and so close to Afghanistan. Would it not be seen as a Russian attempt to expand its sphere of influence in the region?

(as long as they use their new generation of Starbuck spies, it should not be too hard to uncover any covert plans they might have...)

"Expand" it's sphere of influence? Apart from the US airbase, I think that the Russian Republic has kept it's sphere well and truly influenced.

Perhaps KGB_Rezident might like to comment?

  5. In a country far, far away live a bunch of people who I know nothing about...and if they want to kill each other that's their business.

I don't care and it is definitely not our problem.
