Novelist Kurt Vonnegut Dies at 84

NEW YORK (AP) - Kurt Vonnegut, the satirical novelist who captured the absurdity of war and questioned the advances of science in darkly humorous works such as ``Slaughterhouse-Five'' and ``Cat's Cradle,'' died Wednesday. He was 84.

And so it goes. :(

I read Slaughterhouse Five years ago and to be honest I had to read it twice to work out what the fcuk was going on! Good book though.

Sad news, but at 84 he had good inings.
Slaught House 5 was an odd book, but well worth the read.

Bugger. There goes the last living instance of Americans bombed by the RAF. :D

Damn good writer, though.

The Telegraph obit said that he was quoted as saying that he had been bombed by the Yanks, Brits and the Ruskies but NEVER by the Krauts

One very good book.

Lots of very bad politics.

But he knows now . . .

``He was sort of like nobody else,'' said Gore Vidal, who noted that he, Vonnegut and Norman Mailer were among the last writers around who served in World War II.
Bet Melvin Kaminsky was chuffed to read that bit of snobbery.
