Robert Shaw, masterful as Quint in Jaws.
Jurgen Prochnow as the captain in Das Boot.
Shaw's monologue about the sinking of the USS Indianapolis is rightly regarded as one of the best parts of a great film,
"So, eleven hundred men went into the water, three hundred and sixteen came out, sharks took the rest. July 30th, 1945. Anyway(grins)we delivered the Bomb".
What is perhaps less well known is that the first attempts to film the scene failed. So Shaw decided to employ some Method Acting: he actually is very drunk when you see him on screen.
