Was thinking about this 1987 ITV series, thought about it in light of the whole 'V for Vendetta' phenomena don't know if they were related in anyway. Had a quick nose around but could only find a German dubbed version on VHS, seems it was never released post its showing on ITV. Shame as I'd quite like to watch it again....anyone else remember it?

Vaguely remember a programme that had a similar uniform for the soldiers.

Did they have snatches in the programme?

Don't Remember that one. Do remember Jossies Giants and The Magcian trilogy, what were they... The Snow Spider, Emlyn's Moon and the Chestnut Soldier.... Wow, funny how you remember somethings really well then completely forget others.

Remember it somewhat. Vague recollection of watching nasty, brutish black-clad fascists on telly on Sunday afternoon. What's the V for Vendetta thing about then?

In reply yep its not something I remember to clearly, I just remember enjoying it. I think it may have been on on a Sunday evening. (seem to remember they had armoured vehicles, but maybe landrovers)

V for Vendetta was a graphic Novel that came out first in the early 80s as part of a comic, then as a graphic novel proper. It was made into a movie in 2006 I think (maybe 2005). It also dealt with a totalitarian future in Britain, not a bad movie, its themed around 'V' (lead character) as a modern day Guy Fawkes.

It's quite surprising that it wasn't reshown as it had a reasonably high production values. The gunship in the title sequence actually features in one scene in the first episode. Anything with John Woodvine in has got to have some merit.
Yep I wonder why it was never repeated, released on video (outside of Germany), or even remade. I've tracked down a version dubbed in German on VHS. Only problem, I don't speak German

OK, so the book was out by 3 years. Neue Arbeit as the Knights, Bliar as Mordrin and Broon as Hugo anyone?...

Remember it well as Sunday pm entertainment for a 10-year old. Even had (maybe even have) the book. If V for Vendetta predates, then which was a greater inspiration for Children of Men...

Not home grown, but I still rate the original Battlestar Galactica. Although the modern version has a slightly different appeal the red-blooded males among us.
