King's Troop (not) on Parade

#1
A complete no show! Remove any mention of Ubique from them. What does the 'H' stand for after all?

Is this the beginning of the end for The King's Troop? 'Absent' on parade one year, forgotten about the next, deleted the year after?

They must be showing weakness.

Chuffed they weren't on it. It's not an Artillery Parade. My view is that it was a mistake to ever invite them in the first place. Horses shitting and pissing all over the place. The whole idea of parading and saluting a gun is just folly.

Stick to what you are good at - gun salutes in the park.

Only about as stupid as parading and saluting a bit of cloth on a stick.

I'll skip the next bit... It is the deeds that were done under that cloth and stick (or its forebears), but then it is the deeds that were done alongside that gun (or its forebears).

.....so, that'll be the mounted band of HCMR on Segways, then?

It's all explained here.

No King's Troop - And wasn't the parade all the better for it? Yes, is the answer to that question, for the avoidance of doubt. I find the intervention of that shower of shite as irrelevant as the appearance of the Crabs over Buck House. Pointless and unneccessary.

Rumour has it that they're not even very good at that! Apparently they got the count wrong in Hyde Park. Hahahahahaha

Maybe they should have paraded without the horses and just have the percussion section of the Massed Bands issued with coconut shells for effect?

Methinks there's something we're not being told about Kings Troop.

But Her Majesty is head of all the Armed Forces so the Birthday Parade needs to be a purple event. Next year they will be able to fit the whole Royal Navy in the fountains at Trafalgar Square

YAWN...wind-up bleatings..
Was it not HM The Queen who requested King's Troop take part on the 'parade'...must have been a good reason...brighten up what would otherwise be rather a dull event.......

At least the HCMR are part of the Houshold Division
The fact that 'The King's Troop, Royal Horse Artillery' are not part of the Household Division will probably come as a shock to Her Majesty... seeing as they are her own Artillery unit. Something perhaps the MPs should remember, should they ever annoy her. :D

I'll break it down for you.

The King's Troop, RHA ie the King's own Troop of RHA, as written by King George VI when he visited his new unit and wrote The King's Troop (meaning his own) boldly in their Regimental Book. I beleive in writing this, he also crossed out the original name of the unit. Something like Mounted Troop, RHA. Anyway, he wanted a ceremonial gun battery.

When Queen Elizabeth II was crowned she refused to change the title to Queen's Troop RHA in honour of her Dad.

Thus King's Troop RHA will be forever known as The King's Troop RHA, but is still the reigning Monarchs own Household Artillery.

When parading with guns they take precedence over ALL Household Div troops on parade. Something that no doubt upsets the others.

Also worth noting they take over the HCMR Guard duties, whilst the HCMR go away to the beach for summer camp.

So, just to sum it up for. The King's Troop, RHA = Household Div Artillery.
