Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Any learned people here know if I'm able to claim the fares that my kids incur when they travel to the airport?
Kids are in school in Somerset I live with wifey in SFA in NI, kids have taken advantage of service children visit flights. School arranges a taxi to get them to the airport with the nominated driver acting as escort. School has sent seperate bill to me for the taxi fares rather than add it on to extras on main invoice.
Anyone had any experience of this?

  2. I believe you can claim at the MMA rates less the first 50 miles of travel - the School Childrens visits button on JPA should be the route to claim

  3. Schools are less than 50 miles from airport, Taxi driver acts as escort for my kids at UK airport. Bill stands at £300 for 2 return journey's!
    No JPA for me.....yet!

Don't allow yourself to be screwed by the school and their cozy deal with the local taxi drivers?

  6. Found out today I can claim under miscellaneous expenses quoting SCV ref, thank's to AFF pointing the wifey in the right direction.
