Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Any top tips on Jotes (apart from put it off for as long as possible)? Cribs, do's and don'ts?

    Past papers etc received gladly.
  2. msr

    msr LE

Contact your Brigade Specialist Training Team...
  3. Pardon my ignorance, is JOTES the new name for JDSC?

I'm so long in the tooth now, they have probably stopped writing on tablets of stone.
  4. Nope, JOTES is typically used to refer to the Lieutenant-to-Captain exam.......
  5. Lt to Capt, eh?  Now that is ancient history! My Bn ran mine in a field in Hampshire one Saturday in 1984.  Sounds like thing have got more complicated.

    Good luck El Pato.
  6. Try to get on a JOTES course as an 'observer' first. It will help prevent the startled rabbit syndrome.
  7. isn't it just a practac with more tanks?

    El Pato, top tip mate...

Up the middle bags of smoke, armour in the front. and lead from the back this time so I am led to believe...
  8. Won't be too long before JOTES takes on a different guise, as the whole of the Regular and TA Officer's career is being reviewed under ROCC.

Might be worth getting it out of the way now !
  9. Study hard, completed with regulars. If you are teeth arms you need to score high.

No way to bluff the system, study, doctrine and the estimate/orders.
