More seriously, I think it's great that this has happened. It pulls into focus the whole issue of freedom of speech and it shows how sharply at odds the Woke movement is with that whole concept.

I think it also has to pull up some sharp questions about just what the hell is going on in our education system(s) and other institutions. They are being usurped by... Marxism. Democracy is losing.

I remember reading somewhere that Nichelle Nichols was considering quitting Star Trek as she thought it was just a silly kids' show and none other than Martin Luther King told her she must not leave the show, her presence in the cast as a black woman and an officer in the future was a huge role model that was a great positive influence at that time.

I must say that was quite a fan endorsement.

Plus, she was kinda hot looking in that mini dress.

It appears we went to the same school (78-84) although a fair proportion of my teachers were chicks and left of centre types.

I left in 74, there were probably more male staff than female then. Still had woodwork and metalwork, cricket and Rugby. We could never beat Kelly College but we did give St Boniface a good stuffing. Deputy Head was Mr Wallace...did the caning, can't remember the name of the head but my house master was Mr Hopkins, (Glanville).
Graham Dawe was in my year, looked 20 at 15.

Sadly it's not just Random House that has employees who dont understand how the workplace is a workplace, and 'you dont be in charge' unless you have some skin in the game.

Like political discussions were frowned upon in the Military, surely young impressionable school children's minds should be protected from propaganda. Politics should be banned in the Teaching profession. Right through from infants to University.

The various strands of Socialist ideology, Marxist, Fascist or Nazi, propose the organisation of society to produce the optimum result for all the qualifying members of that society. Whilst it is not religious because there is no god in the belief system, a belief system driven by the idea of approximating to perfectibility contains a considerable element of religiosity and that informs the behaviour of its supporters.

In such circumstances, dissent is not simply wrong but actively evil since it is demonstrably counter to, and thus a threat to, achieving the identified good. There is also the very real human problem inherent in suggesting to true believers of any persuasion that 'there is no God'. The desire to punish outgroups and force them to conform has been a function of religiosity since the beginning of time and this is simply more of the same.

Our under thirties are generally horribly untested and unworldly and have been brought up in a system which rewards unthinking rote learning and playback and particularly favours those best adapted to recognise social cues. Add to that, near unlimited individual access to unprecedented media capabilities far beyond that of commercial media organisations even twenty years ago and you have a perfect recipe for the levels of ignorant aggression we are currently witnessing.

It has to be said, the utter anguish amongst these retards when they get a good slap from someone they have been baiting and has had enough gives me a Ready Brek glow.
Especially when it's seen around the world in minutes few due to that dratted social media...

In fairness, my first uni back in the early 90s was probably more overtly Marxist than the one I now work in. The SU was totally dominated by left-wing activists and there were Socialist Worker (oh, the irony) protests about something-or-other every week, inc our presence in Northern Ireland.

In the year i've worked at my current one, i've yet to encounter an academic with a political agenda. They're too busy with their personal ones. Oh my, the egos....! But then again, it's more of a science and commercial institution than a humanties/political science one. It's actually the professional staff who seem to be left wing, but that's perhaps a function of their age and peer influence.

However, I did do an archaeology degree as a mature student at Notts a few years ago. I had to take a module outside of my core area and did one about modern British nationalism. It was taught by a 20-something-year-old Lebanese marxist-feminist who had only lived in the UK for 4 years.

I achieved a grand total of 19% on the module. I'm surprised I got that much given how far apart our perspectives were!

Her norks were spectacular though. Like greyhounds' noses.
